Brief Connect v2.5.11 Release Notes

Package version: 2.5.11

This is a patch release with a single bug fix for record changes that did not save when a record had a large number of assigned users. The issue affects environments running v2.5.10.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed record changes not saving on records with a large number of assigned users

    On environments running v2.5.10, some records could not be updated when many users were assigned across their role fields. Changes such as editing the title or reassigning a role appeared to save, but reopening the record showed the previous values. Permissions also may not have propogated successfully.

    Brief Connect now saves these records correctly.

    If a record change cannot be written to the database for any other reason, Brief Connect now reports the failure instead of appearing to save the change.

Upgrade instructions (from v2.5.x)

The following instructions apply to environments already running Brief Connect v2.5.x.

Manual pre-deployment steps

Review release pipeline variables

Apply any changes to pipeline variables before you create a release. Each release snapshots variable values at creation time, and you must create a new release to redeploy with updated variables.

  1. Go to Azure DevOps and open your Brief Connect project.
  2. In the left navigation, go to Pipelines -> Library -> Variable groups.
  3. Review variables for all environments included in this release and update values where required.
  4. Save any changes.

Create a new release

  1. Go to Azure DevOps, open your Brief Connect project, and go to Pipelines -> Releases.
  2. Open the Deploy Brief Connect Application release pipeline.
  3. If there is no release with version 2.5.11, click Create Release.
  4. Set the Package Version variable to 2.5.11.
  5. Add a description (optional).
  6. Click Create.
  7. The release v2.5.11 (n) is created and appears in the release list after refresh.

Pipeline deployment steps

  1. Deploy release v2.5.11 (n) (where (n) is the latest number available) from the Deploy Brief Connect Application release pipeline in Azure DevOps to the target environment.

Release-specific tests for v2.5.11

  • Open a record that has many users assigned across its role fields. You may need to assign 100+ users overall to all roles.
  • Change the record title and save. Reopen the record and verify the new title is saved.
  • Reassign a user in a role field and save. Reopen the record and verify the change is saved.
  • Verify the Supplementary Areas panel still saves and that the record's role assignments and permissions match the assignees.
